Meet the Teacher

MEET THE TEACHER!!

Hey Everyone! My name is Tiffany. I'm a wife, mother, teacher, photographer, and blogger gal.  This is my 9th year teaching.  For the past eight years, I taught 3rd grade!  I also taught one year of 2nd.   This year, I am teaching Kindergarten!  Yay!!!  I cannot wait to meet my students!!

THESE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS...

I love crawfish jambalaya, fine point sharpies, and my 70-200mm Canon L 2.8 lens!  I also love my students and school family!

IF YOU WEREN'T A TEACHER, WHAT WOULD YOU WANT TO BE?

I'd want to be a comedian, weather girl, or an owner of a small, elegant breakfast restaurant!  Or an underwater basket weaver.  You choose.  hehe

THREE LITTLE WORDS THAT DESCRIBE YOU.

 Compassionate...Hardworking...Leader

FINISH THE SENTENCE, "________,  SAID NO TEACHER EVER!!"

"I'd really love to cut out millions of tiny pieces of lamination!" said NO TEACHER EVER!!

Q: IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY AND YOU CAN INVITE ANYONE {DEAD OR ALIVE} TO THE PARTY. WHO ARE YOU INVITING?

Jesus.  Oprah.  All of my friends and family members who have passed.

Q: IF SOMEONE WROTE A BOOK ABOUT YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD BE THE TITLE?

The Bold and the Beautiful.  HA!!  Just kidding...
It would be called Black Beauty.  Hahahahaha...Okay here it is... really...

Unwritten
(Yep I stole this from you Natasha!)

NY Times Best Seller...available in paperback.  Hehe

Q:YOU GET TO PICK ONE SUPERPOWER. WHAT IS IT?

I'd fly...
mainly over morning traffic and whenever I'm running late!

Q: WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE OR SAYING?

"Children are the World's Most Natural Resource."

Q: IF YOU HAD TO SING ONE SONG ON AMERICAN IDOL, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

I WILL SURVIVE!

Q: ARE YOU A MORNING PERSON OR A NIGHT OWL?

 NEITHER!  I NEED MY SLEEP!!!!

Q: WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE RESOURCE THAT YOU'VE CREATED IN YOUR TPT SHOP?

My Landform Packet!! Check it out...

Mystery Reading

Sooooo reading by far is my favorite subject to teach!  I love to read many different books, and ultimately, I love instilling this same love and passion for reading in my students!

In third grade, we have an amazing reading unit... Mystery Book Clubs!  My kids loved this unit. Not only were they reading more than ever, but my students were digging deeply into their mysteries to solve them. Yes!  They were doing it!  My students were comprehending, discussing, predicting, and making inferences...AND THEY DIDN'T EVEN KNOW IT!

Check out my mystery book club packet:

QR Codes for Reading

Do your students do "Listening to Reading" during reading workshop or the Daily 5???  If so, you might be interested in these...

I made QR Codes for your students to scan and listen to on an ipad, tablet, or smart phone/device.  If your students are anything like mine they you'll agree that it's difficult for them to type in web addresses into the search bar.  With my new QR Codes for Reading, they won't have to!

This is a set of 16 qr code stories read by celebrities through storylineonline. All stories are uploaded to YouTube, but run through safeshare to remove any unwanted ads or links. You will need a smart device and QR code reader in order to view the videos.

Some stories included are…- A Bad Case of the Stripes- Library Lion- My Rotten Redheaded Older Brother- I need a Monster- Somebody Loves You Mr. Hatch- Thank You Mr. Falker- Brave Irene…and many more!I print these sheets, slip them in pocket protectors, and my kids listen to the stories during “listening to reading” in Daily 5 by using my iPad. They love it! It’s so difficult for students to type in web addresses, so this is perfect!

Check them out on my TPT store!!

Since my classroom stools were collapsing and falling apart (a lot of learning going on folks!), it was time for a different seating option!  Also, since I'm moving from 3rd grade to Kindergarten, my stools were a bit too high for my new kinders.  Check out my new crate seats!

My 6'4" going into Lowes to get the wood cut and measured!  He's amazing!!!  Love you hubby.
My girls sitting on them...checking them out for safety!  ;-)
Gotta have cushion!  I used my 50% off coupon and 15% off teacher discount at Jo Ann's.
I heart CHEVRON!  Fabric from Jo Ann's!
Let the staple gunning begin!  (secret fact...I've never used a staple gun.  LOL.  This was dangerous fun!)

Check out my new signs that I made last week!

Nothing like Sunday dinner!  I experimented with making Famous Dave's Cornbread Muffins.
Here's the recipe I followed...
1 3/4 c. cornmeal
1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs
3/4 c. granulated sugar
1/4 c. shortening
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
3/4 c. whole milk
1/4 c. buttermilk
1/3 c. vegetable oil
4 Tbl. honey
They were so yummy!
Super Moist!
Enjoy your week!  XoXo ~ Tiffany

Brain Breaks

I just came across the most fantastic, interactive website for brain breaks in the classroom!  My students this past year LOVED IT!  It's called GoNoodle, and it's incredible.  Each day, I'd go to this site and allow my students to take a break break!  There are songs, dance moves, and fun interactive body movement exercises that students can do!  You can choose the activity depending on how long you want your students to break.
But wait! The best part is this...after you sign up for the FREE website (umm yep, you heard me right...I said F-R-E-E) you can create a cute avatar for your class.  After doing so many brain breaks, your avatar gets bigger and bigger!  The kids love this!  Here's our avatar...

Here's our little guy (Frank)  after we did a bunch of brain breaks!  The kids LOVE to see how he grows.  I also tell them that the more they move and participate, the more Frank will grow and get stronger!   I would display the site on my Smartboard, and my kids would go!  They did songs, dances, and they really enjoyed "jumping hurdles" around the track.  After doing each brain break, my students got their wiggles out and were ready to learn!

Once Frank grew as large and strong as he could, we got a new guy, Jim.
Here's Jim!

Substitute Teacher Binder

If you're anything like me, you despise writing sub plans!!  What about those early morning hours (3:00 a.m.) when you just know you will not be coming into to school...and you are too sick to make sub plans!  Well look no further!!  I created a sub binder filled with awesome information for your substitute teacher.  It sure does make me feel good to know that my sub can look in this binder and be all set for the day!  :)  Check it out on TPT!

End of the Year Awards

I cannot believe that it is the end of the year already!  I am really going to miss my wonderful third graders.  This class has been amazing.  To show them how much I love them, I created these awards to pass out at our end of the year picnic.  I curled up into a ball on the couch, turned off the TV, and thought about each one of my little third grade students.  It was so much fun filling out these awards.  I cannot wait to pass them out!  Feel free to snag them here...FOR FREE!  :)

I am super excited to introduce my new Mystery Unit pack on Teacher's Pay Teachers!

My students used this religiously in my classroom while studying mysteries.  This made my books clubs go as smooth as ever!  And the graphics are super cute too! Check it out here!
